Marissa Sackler’s surname is synonymous with large-scale philanthropy, and she has followed in her family’s footsteps, emerging as a successful social entrepreneur. Her passion for social causes – Sackler was one of the founding sponsors of charity: water, bringing clean drinking water to people in developing nations – led her to set up BeeSpace, which offers innovative nonprofits office space and mentorship. She is a keen collector of work by emerging contemporary artists, and serves on the board of the DIA Art Foundation and the Mortimer D. Sackler Foundation. She is also a photographer whose work highlights issues of social injustice.
